Order of the Dragonfly Necklace: sterling silver, 22k gold, labradorite, and sugilite.

This is a necklace that I made for my daughter's birthday.

She's becoming such a goth, that I wanted to make something that she could wear that at least had some connection with vampires (Vlad's Order of the Dragon) without being too in your face about it. :)

The chain is Viking weave, with handmade clasp. The labradorite is reverse bezel set to allow maximum light to penetrate the stone and get that schiller flash.

I think it will go great with the jacket that I had made for her [link]

What do you think?

Order of the Dragonfly by *CosmicFolklore. The large stone behind the dragonfly is a labradorite and the smaller one is a sugilite, set in 22K gold and with a Viking weave chain in sterling silver. The artist designed and made this necklace as a birthday gift for one of his young daughters. (Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

I love the composition, the textures, and the colour contrast!

It's complex enough to lead the eye around the piece without being overkill.

Lovely.

i tried that once... but i don't know which part of me it made tingle.

It does look like an iconographic necklace for an order. :iconoooplz:

Thanks, that was what I was going for. As long as it's not an order for a bean burrito, nachos and a small Dr. Pepper. I swear that girl has got to diversify her diet, LOL.

Thank you,
I had a tough time planning the textures, so that I didn't get too repetitive or monotonous.
She had initially asked for a spider. I hope she's not too disappointed. I don't mind making something with a spider on it, but she is at that age where she is trying to find a click. So, I thought a dragon fly would last longer in her repertoire and wouldn't isolate her to just the vampire crowd :D

XD I meant the kind of order you meant. And I like the subtle "Dragon" reference without, like you said, being "IN YO FACE" about it.

I know :D I was just messing with you, LOL. She actually eats too much asparagus, but I thought that might sound kind of far fetched. But, she does. My kids' bathroom smells like an asparagus processing plant. :)

Isn't it weird how asparagus does that?

she had asked for a spider, but I knew that at 12 she would be doomed to strictly the goth/death rocker/coven section of the school. If she eventually wants to pierce her ass, get a tattoo, and wear a boa constrictor hair doo, that will be fine. But, in middle school, she needs to be versatile to learn that the square world is full of people, who have fears, aspirations, and dreams of normalcy almost like us freaks :) Then maybe she won't discriminate against these squares once we take over the world and enslave them as our pet accountants and engineers, working to construct our master plan, muah ha ha ha!!!!

Thaaaaaank yooooou.

sorry, I hope that doesn't come across as being too much of a jerk. I am in a silly mood:)

Yes, I know that problem too well, though I was never fond of spiders. I preferred the weird stuff pilfered at garage sales, like a sun with a great big eye in the middle. XD
